On Saturday (March 23) officers recognised for their contribution to the community attended the ‘One Carlisle, One Community’ fixture at Brunton Park.

Carlisle United FC and the University of Cumbria teamed up to celebrate individuals and organisations making their mark upon our community.

Cumbria Constabulary were approached with 12 tickets as part of the initiative.

12 Officers and staff who attended the fixture were nominated by senior management for the contribution they have made to keep the people of Cumbria safe within their role.

Some of those recognised were:

  • An officer who has recently been recognised and thanked by the public for their support and intervention in tackling anti-social behaviour.
  • A PCSO from Workington was recognised after the Constabulary received many letters and emails of appreciation for the work they do within in the community to prevent crime and solve problems.
  • A response Inspector was recognised for their leadership, as well as for the support they give others within the wider organisation.
  • A student officer was recognised for their proactive work, positive attitude and the hard work they put in day to day.

Chief Superintendent Mick Bird, BCU commander for Cumberland said: “Our officers and staff work 24/7 to keep our local communities safe.

“It was extremely hard to narrow our long list of those deserving recognition down to just 12 due to the work all our employees carry out in our communities in Cumberland.

“We are extremely pleased to have been involved with this initiative to recognise individuals and their contributions to our local community – and thank Carlisle United and the University of Cumbria for their kind offer.”
