The Ullswater partnership, one of four finalists, is spearheaded by the National Trust and Ullswater Catchment Management Community Interest Company, with support from the Cumbria River Restoration Strategy and others.

Since 2015, the collaboration has delivered 282 projects in response to Storm Desmond, resulting in 843 hectares of habitat restoration.

Initiatives covered over 13km of river restoration, 46 hectres of pond creation, over 16km of hedgerow creation, and significant restorations of wood pasture, peat, and wetlands.

National Trust project manager, Rebecca Powell said: "It’s fantastic to be recognised for the work we have been doing together in Ullswater.

"The key to our success so far has been working together with the local community, farmers and other partners.
