A brass band based in Keswick are to play at the North of England area championships in Durham on Saturday.

Last year, North Lakes Brass qualified for the national finals where they finished in an impressive fifth place after winning the fourth section at the north of England contest and have since been promoted to the third section.

The band was formed in the aftermath of the pandemic and is made up of brass players from across north and west Cumbria.

North Lakes Brass have only been to the regionals twice and have qualified for the national finals both times and are hoping that their hard work will pay off in the higher section and get the band down to the finals in Cheltenham for the third year in a row.

The band will be up against other bands from across the north of England including Spennymoor Town Band, Trimdon Colliery Band and South Cumbrian outfit, Flookburgh Band.
