A WEST Cumbrian hotel has hosted its second celebrity in less than a week after a high-profile former politician stayed the night.

Nigel Farage, the former UKIP leader, stayed at Moresby Hall during a visit to Whitehaven on Wednesday to film a Spring Budget Day special for GB News.

It comes after Happy Mondays star Bez stayed at the hotel on Saturday night following a show at the Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven.

Steph Eilbeck, one of the owners of Morseby Hall, said: “We are getting quite popular with celebrities. I can’t wait to see who’s next!

“Nigel travelled up late from London so he didn’t make it until the early hours of the morning. We didn’t know who it was until he arrived. I got to meet him at breakfast when he came down.

“We had a bit of a chat after breakfast and he was telling me what he was doing. He said how much he loved the area and how nice it was.

“I said, I hope you can understand the Cumbrian dialect and he just started laughing! He said it’s quite a distinctive accent.

“He was nice. He loved the hotel and had a wonderful stay.”

Mr Farage, who finished third on last year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was also spotted at The Countryman pub in Lamplugh during his visit.

And GB News presenter Bev Turner was seen filming on Whitehaven Harbour on Wednesday, asking residents their thoughts ahead of the Budget announcement.
