THE owner of a new Carlisle cafe has described its opening day as 'super amazing'.

The Buttered Cat in Carlisle's Kinmont Arcade officially opened on Tuesday, March 5.

The cafe has been in the works since November 2023 and on its opening day, owner Andy 'Jabba' Davenport was on hand to explain how he was feeling like the cat who had got the cream

He said: "It's amazing, it's super amazing. The whole Arcade has taken it really well and we have loads of people speaking about it.

"Everyone has taken to it really well and I am just super excited to see where we take it from here. It has turned out better than I thought it ever would."

Andy also detailed how the Buttered Cat has received an extra special visit from the previous occupiers of the Kinmont Arcade unit as part of the grand opening celebrations.

He said: "We had I Love Cafe come this morning to drop some flowers off and say that they can't believe it.

REVIEW

After speaking to Andy about the realisation of his dream to own a cafe in Carlisle I turned my attention to the sweet treats and savoury bites that were on offer.

Several appetising cakes and sausage rolls were stacked on the Buttered Cat's counter and after attempting to make my mind up about which one I wanted to try first, I settled on a Crunchie rocky road slice from Blondies Brownie House and a caramelised onion sausage roll from the Market Hall's Dough Luxe to accompany my latte that was made with Bruce N Lukes coffee.

News and Star: Thankfully Carlisle had blessed the Buttered Cat with sun for its opening day so I enjoyed my food and drink in the cafe's outdoor seating area where I quietly enjoyed every delicious bite and sup.

The Buttered Cat achieves its core aim of providing locals with a quiet area to relax and enjoy locally sourced goodies in the city centre and it seems like it's only going to be up for Carlisle's newest cafe.
