Hundreds of virtual work experience opportunities are now available across Cumbria.
New programmes have been launched by North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, in recognition of National Careers Week.
These virtual offerings, aimed at adults and youngsters, actively promote the array of career paths within the NHS.
One may choose between two programmes: Nursing & Midwifery Work Experience or Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Work Experience.
Each experience gives comprehensive insights into the skills and expertise required in various health care professions, from nursing to speech therapy.
Participants will become well versed in their local trust's operations and acquire the necessary career preparation for a job within the NHS.
Open to anyone over the age of 13, the virtual work experience courses come with a certificate upon completion.
This week, career ambassadors are visiting schools to promote this initiative, focusing on introducing young people in Cumbria to NHS careers.
Specialist speech and language therapist at NCIC, Victoria Tate, is one representative excited about inspiring future NHS employees.
Having received speech and language therapy as a child, she expressed her love for her profession.
Ms Tate said: "What I love most about my job is the variety.
"No two days or patients are the same.
"I enjoy meeting patients and providing assessment to diagnose.
"I then have the pleasure of supporting them in understanding their diagnosis, providing therapeutic treatments and techniques that will improve symptoms."
She further supports her patients post-discharge in a community setting.
Whether she's aiding with their speech, language, communication, or swallowing, Victoria Tate feels that the appreciation expressed by the patients and their families validates her job.
Beyond North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust's offered programmes, there are similar virtual work experience opportunities available from other NHS partners.
They include 'Primary Care Careers in North Cumbria', Healthcare Science, and Pharmacy.
Hence, anyone interested in exploring a health care career has the necessary resources at their disposal.
With over 350 roles in the NHS, there surely is an opportunity for everyone interested.
