A COUPLE who declared that they would marry each other on their first date have tied the knot in a winter wedding and plan to jet off to Bali for a honeymoon.
Solicitor Sian and sales manager Greg Watson from Carlisle, first met each other after being matched on 'Bumble'.
After Sian was serenade by Greg on their first date on December 6 2018, the pair made an early vow that they would get married.
Keeping his side of the agreement, two years later, Greg proposed on New Year’s Eve 2022 just before midnight at home.
For a stag do, Greg went to Liverpool to the Aintree Races whereas Sian went to the Manchester Christmas Markets.
Finally, the big day arrived, as the 32-year-olds got married on December 30 2023 at The Fleece at Rulehome.
Sian said: "We chose this date as it was five years to the day that we became 'boyfriend and girlfriend'.
"For the wedding, we didn't have a theme as such but wanted a winter wedding around Christmas time as we both love Christmas.
"The ceremony was at 1pm and was followed by our reception at 3.30pm then we had our evening celebrations at 7pm. We had 65 day guests plus 25 night guests join us for our special day."
They had a red velvet and vanilla wedding cake and their favours were scratch cards.
"After cutting the cake we had our first dance which was to Natasha Bedingfield's song 'Unwritten', which is a special song to us as Greg sang this to me on our first date!" she said. "It was also our favourite moment of the day.
"We then invited everyone to the dance floor and enjoyed the DJ, casino games and photobooth.
"After the wedding, we went on a 'minimoon' to Edinburgh and but we are looking forward to a proper honeymoon where we have booked to go to Bali in the spring."
