THE SOLWAY Aviation Museum is flying closer to its target of raising £60,000 to bring a one-of-a-kind aircraft into its collection.
On February 1, the museum launched its ambitious appeal to help rescue and preserve one of the last surviving RAF transport aircraft - the Blackburn Beverley XB259.
After less than two weeks, the museum near Carlisle has successfully raised £14,804.13.
Museum chairman Dougie Kerr: "We are very confident that we're going to crack this!"
If successful, the RAF aircraft, currently located at Hull's Fort Paull, will be dismantled before it's transferred to its new home at Carlisle Airport where it will be available for public viewing.
