HOSPICE at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland has announced that it raised over £14,500 with its 2024 Christmas Tree Collection Appeal.

The fundraiser, which was organised in conjunction with Xmas Tree collection charity Just Helping, raised an estimated £14,800 for the local hospice, with the average donation towards the collection going up by over £2 compared to 2023.

The collection was aided by local businesses and volunteers who gave their time and volunteered their vehicles to help collect 1,088 trees over two days in January in support of the charity whose services cover 1,500 square miles from the Scottish Border to Stainmore, Allonby, and Alston.

Following this year's Xmas Tree collection, Jenny Urwin from Hospice at Home was keen to put on record her sincere thanks to the plethora of businesses that helped make the fundraiser possible.

She said: "We wish to thank; Dalemain, Mitie, North Lakes Glass, Tech 4 Office, Atkinson Building Contractors, Travis Perkins, Westwood Landscape, Telford Van Hub, Special Event Tipis, Cubby, Armstrong Vehicle Centre, Rural Payments Agency, McKnights, Cumberland Building Society, JJ Latimers, Integrity, Steel Erectors LTD, Thomas Graham, Amazon, Hospice at Home Volunteers, our event sponsor Lloyds Motor Group and our chipper CWB Foresty, as we simply could not have done this without them.

Jenny also explained in more detail what she is hoping will be achieved by the success of the collection appeal.

She said: "This appeal is a great way of raising awareness of the community’s options for hospice care within their home, as well as the hurdles that we are progressively having to navigate more and more of, due to the current economic climate.

"You are helping us to give people the choice of where they wish to die. Hospice at Home are proud to give that choice to the people of North and East Cumbria and long may that continue with your help."
