A BEREAVED wife who lost her husband to a glioblastoma (GBM) brain tumour in 2023, has decided to honour him by continuing their fundraising efforts.

Liah Potts and her husband Daniel, who are originally from Guernsey but resided near Loweswater, started their fundraising as a couple when initially Dan became ill.

Back in mid December 2021, after trying to type a message on his phone and reading it back to find that words were repeated or he had wrong word in the sentence, Dan went to the local GP who immediately referred him to hospital for a MRI and CT scan.

This was when they discovered he had a massive Grade 4 Glioblastoma Brain Tumour and swelling on the brain.

Sadly, after undergoing incredibly aggressive treatments, Daniel lost his battle to the tumour on August 30 2023.

Liah wrote a tribute to Dan at the time that said: "My beloved husband, soulmate and best friend Dan passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in my arms. I spent his last night telling him how much I loved and adored him.

"I don’t know what to do without you Dan or how to process this pain but I know you’ll be looking down on me and keeping me safe, protecting and guiding me like you always have done."

However, Liah made a promise to Dan before he passed away, a promise which she intended to keep. Liah would continue the couples' fundraising efforts and raise awareness and help people suffering in the same situations.

To continue the fundraising, Liah has created an auction where people can bid on items, kept up with the JustGiving page, and set up a brand called 'Pottsy Wottsy Etches & Sketches' where she makes and sells clothing and wooden items, with all profits going to charities.

The charities which the money will be split between are Brain Tumour Research, Macmillan Cancer Care and a percentage will go towards the church where Dan is buried.

Liah said: "I made a promise to Dan, that I would keep fundraising and try to get towards his goal.

"I know it might not be possible, but anything I raise will go to these charities and will help people in similar horrible situations that we had to go through."
