A charity has thanked a Carlisle Darts league for its 'really important' donation.

The Carlisle Sunday Night Mixed Invitation Darts League raised £257.75 for the Northern Centre for Cancer, which was opened in August 2021, with its annual blind pairs knockout tournament which took place on Friday, December 29.

The charity night took place at Albert Street's Ex-Service Men's Club and was eventually won by John Duncan and Donna English who defeated Shane Williams and Ali MacMillan in the grand final.

After the charity, the Darts league which is organised by Fiona and Nev Jack took to social media to thank everyone who took part and helped the money for the Newcastle Hospitals Charity.

They said: "Massive thanks go to every single person who turned up and contributed very generously to the event.

In a letter, Newcastle Hospitals Charity's operations manager Amanda Waterfall personally thanked the local Darts league for their donation.

They said: "On behalf of all at Newcastle Hospitals Charity, thank you for your kind donation of £257.75 towards the Northern Centre for Cancer Care.

"By making this donation, you become a really important part of our team. Your support is of great value to this very important area of the hospital and will help us to continue to be a national leader for our patient care, and supporting our commitment to delivering high quality, safe care and putting our patients at the heart of everything we do."
