A WEST Cumbrian bar caused a stir at the weekend with a unique cocktail offering which saw more than 120 people turn up bearing fruit.
The Strand in Whitehaven offered to give a free Porn Star Martini to anyone who brought a passionfruit to the bar on Saturday.
The venue was inundated with over 120 customers who arrived with the fruit which is a key ingredient in the popular cocktail.
Owner Craig Bell said he and his wife, Lindsay, had not expected so many people to turn up.
He said: “We did over 120 free Porn Star Martinis. It was a really good turnout. We were predicting around 10 or 20. We got the shock of our lives!
“For two hours, our three cocktail-makers never stopped. We got that busy we had to stop at one point. We didn’t have any Porn Stars left!”
On the reasons behind the unusual offer, Craig said: “January is a quiet time – everybody is spent up after Christmas. It was just to give back. We had a great Christmas and were very busy. It was just to say thank you to our customers.
“We like thinking outside of the box and doing different things. I think that’s the first time anyone’s done something like that round here.”
