Looking to plan your next staycation? Look no further. There is a diverse range of destinations to visit across the UK with something on offer for everyone.

The Lake District, for that matter, is one of the best places for those looking to holiday at home.

If you plan on camping in the beautiful countryside or just taking a nice long stroll along a scenic coastline, you can bet your money on somewhere in Cumbria ticking every box.

Now a town in the Lake District has been named as one of the best UK staycation locations for 2024.

Go Outdoors recently conducted a study and revealed their top 10.

Top 10

  1. Betws-y-coed
  2. Ambleside
  3. Bakewell
  4. Whitby
  5. Matlock
  6. Tenby
  7. Rye
  8. Padstow
  9. Braemar

Ambleside came in second place. Located in the Lake District, the holiday destination is packed with many shops and restaurants, but it also has a great selection of places to stay.

Go Outdoors said: "Hugely popular among walkers and climbers, this small town is nothing short of exceptional. There are plenty of walking trails to enjoy and take in the beautiful views and scenic paths.

"Make your way around Loughrigg Fell, a 9.7-km circular trail passing through the River Rothay and Loughrigg Tarn. You can also extend your tour on this rocky path by taking a detour to the summit and Rydal Cave. Perfect for outdoor explorers, it’s no wonder it scores a high score of 8.37."

Betws-y-Coed took the top spot as the best UK holiday hotspot. A delightful little north Walian village with a score of 8.4.

And St Ives completed the top three, with a total score of 8.10. Largely known for its surf beaches and its art scene.
