A family in Carlisle has set up a new business to help people honour loved ones who have passed away.

Alison Graham and her daughters Danielle Page and Jemma Graham had the idea of creating personalised and bespoke memorial plaques and grave markers.

The trio came up with the idea of 'Forever in our Hearts' after the bereavement of daughter and sister Darcie in 2022.

In an interview with the News & Star, Danielle said: "We lost my sister Darcie in 2022, and during that time it's been quite difficult, but all our friends and family have got us through it.

"We just think an important message to get out there is to appreciate and remember your loved ones, past and present.

"When we've gone to Darcie's grave, we like to keep it looking nice and we noticed that there's not a lot of choice out there. She loved her holidays, she loved beaches, and there wasn't anything we could do to represent that.

"So we thought there was a gap in the market for it. It keeps us busy and positive, that's the idea behind it."

After going live with the Facebook page on Monday, January 22, Forever in our Hearts has already received five orders.

Danielle added: "We have had a massive response to it, people have said that it's a lovely thing to do, and a lovely tribute. It's not just a generic thing to put on someone's grave, it will be personal to them."

The business designed a grave marker for family friend Norman, and when it was shown to his wife, she cried 'happy tears'.

The markers are acrylic and come in various shapes and sizes. They're fully weatherproof and the colour is dyed into it, to ensure that it can withstand the rain.

The trio are currently working from home, and have launched the business on Instagram and Facebook, with the aim of being on Etsy and Shopify in the next few weeks, where they could reach customers outside Cumbria.

Orders can currently be placed at £12 as an introductory offer.
