Carlisle's Bookends is inviting the public to join them for an evening of conversation with award-winning writer and historian Alistair Moffat.

Alistair Moffat will be conducting discourse on his recent book, Between Britain – Walking the History of England and Scotland.

It explores the conflict and union of the relationship between the two countries, through history and looking ahead to the future.

The discussion promises to transport attendees on a historical journey through the distinct border separating Scotland from England.

In a post on social media, a spokesperson from Bookends said: "Between Britain is a history book, a travelogue, a personal reminiscence and a gently prodding examination of national identity.

"But above all, it is a celebration of a place and the people who live there."

Tickets are readily available in-store and online and stand at £8, which includes a drink on the night.

Those attending also have an option to buy the book and ticket at a combined price of £20.

The event will take place on February 6, at 7pm, in the Cake's and Ale cafe.

Between Britain is being published on February, 8.
