Cumbria turned into a winter wonderland as a blanket of snowfall swept across the region yesterday (January 16), creating stunning pictures but also widespread disruption and closures.

The snow came at a time in which the Met Office placed a yellow weather warning over the county.

It will remain in place until Thursday, January 18.
