A Cumbrian charity has received £500 after a couple's win on the BBC gameshow Pointless.

Dave and Claire from Leicestershire donated £500 of their £1750 total prize to Lake District Calvert Trust after winning an episode of Pointless, which was aired earlier this week.

After reaching the final, they selected the category UK and US politics during the reign of Queen Victoria.

This challenged them to name US Presidents, UK Prime Ministers or Chancellors of the Exchequer during Victoria's time on the throne.

Their answer of Lord Salisbury, who served as Prime Minister three times in his lifetime, was pointless, which won them the £1750 jackpot.

Dave's charity of choice was the Calvert Trust, as his nephew enjoys visiting the holiday centre which help people with a range of disabilities experience the Lake District.

After their win was aired on television on Thursday, the Calvert Trust thanked them on social media.

They wrote: "A huge thank you to Dave and Claire for their £500 donation to the Lake District Calvert Trust following their BBC Pointless appearance which aired last night!"
