A sponsored walk has been planned later this month to raise money for the family of a two-year-old suffering with cancer.

Myles Love, from Carlisle, was diagnosed with stage four Neuroblastoma just days before Christmas and has been receiving chemotherapy treatment at Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle.

A GoFundMe was set up to support Myles' family during this incredibly tough time, as his parents split their time between Carlisle and Newcastle.

Nicole Flannery, Myles' Auntie, is now working with family friend Brandon Murdoch to set up a sponsored 'Miles for Myles' walk from Penrith Castle to Carlisle which will take place on January 28, starting at 11am.

She said: "So far there's only about 10 of us. We've had a few sponsors, a lot of people are sharing it on social media. We've been pushing it on the Facebook. We're working on posters, sponsor forms and t-shirts for it."

Anyone interested in completing the walk, which is expected to take around seven hours, can sign up via the Myles' Journey Facebook page.

Nicole added: "Brandon originally wanted to walk from Carlisle to Newcastle but we agreed on Penrith to Carlisle to make it easier for those with limited mobility who wanted to see us cross the finish line.

"We haven't decided yet if all the money is going to go directly to Myles, or whether some of it might go to the Great North Children's Hospital who are treating him. We can't praise them enough, they have been a massive support to my sister and Myles. They've been absolutely amazing, I can't fault them."

Nicole, and the rest of Myles' family, have been taken aback by the incredible support they have received since his tragic diagnosis.

She added: "It makes it a lot easier on us knowing that we are not going through this alone. Even just kind words and the appreciation that people are thinking of us and Myles and doing what they can to help. As a family as a whole, we just want to thank everyone for the support that they are giving us."
