PLANS have been put forward to expand a business park with the creation of a day nursery in Penrith.

The application put forward Atkinson Building Contractors is earmarked for land at Eden Business Park, on land off Thacka Lane.

The nursery opening hours will generally be from 8am until 6pm, with 26 car parking bays included within the proposals.

The business park already houses four operational companies.

The design and access statement reads: "The proposal follows discussions with a well-established local Day Nursery & Pre-School Centre, recently rated Outstanding by Ofsted, wishing to establish a second-day nursery and pre-school to the Business Park in Penrith.

"Their existing nursery and pre-school centre in the village of Langwathby was established in 2012 and has been a success since.

"This location is ideally suited for the expansion of Lambkins Day Nursery into the Market Town of Penrith," it reads.

Lambkins, originally established in the village of Langwathby in 2012, champions a free-range, organic approach to child learning, facilitated mainly through interactive play and guided by natural curiosity.

The new Penrith location, bordering Thacka Nature Reserve – for which Lambkins will have direct access – caters perfectly to this ethos according to the plans, offering pupils a chance to engage with the surrounding countryside.
