A Local charity has thanked the community for supporting its Christmas auction.

Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice launched the charity auction, which included items such as an Egland shirt signed by current boss Gareth Southgate on Friday, November 17.

The auction concluded on Friday, December 1, with £3,884 being raised in aid of the charity.

Speaking after the auction's conclusion, a spokesperson for Eden Valley Hospice said: "We like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has placed a bid on one of the fantastic items so far. Your support has raised more than £3,250 for the hospice, helping us continue to care for local patients and their families at a time when it is needed most."

To make the auction possible, a number of local people and businesses, such as Pete Tyson, The Yoga Studio Carlisle, Pentonbridge Inn, and Avnati West Coast, donated 62 items that the local community could bid on.

As well as the signed England shirt, these items on auction included an Amazon Fire 43-inch 4K UHD smart TV, holiday vouchers, and concert tickets.

Relationship Fundraiser, Martha Pardoe, speaking when the auction was launched, explained how it would support the Hospice

She said: "By supporting this auction and buying a gift for someone you love or treating yourself, you are helping contribute towards the £5 million a year which keeps your beloved hospice running for the people and families we care for."
