AN intriguing new film created by students in Carlisle is going to be screened next month.
Called ‘Portmanteau’, it aptly contains a collection of scenes to form an anthology horror/thriller, cryptically described as following a theme of ‘tunnels’.
The film was created by level 3 creative media and production students at Carlisle College and involved the efforts of 25 people, from directing, editing, marketing, and everything in between.
Asa Pegler, a student who is on the team for the film, described the film: “The whole portmanteau thing means something all merged together, so there is going to be one film created by several different directors, who made several different scenes in the same film, to form an anthology, heavily a thriller/horror.
“Most stories focus on being stuck in a loop or being stuck in a bad situation.
“There is one segment which features a theme of being a young carer, and other themes surrounding trauma, mental health, and there are spiritual themes as well.”
This work is part of the students’ final grade which will help them towards applying to go to university, and is presented as a Carlisle College of the Arts production, with tutors presenting the film to the audience prior to screening.
Tickets to the screening, which cost £4 and includes food and drink, will be available on the door, but to secure a seat, Mr Pegler said it is recommended to book online via Eventbrite.
