John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle, has welcomed the Chancellor's announcement on the increase of national living wage and minimum wage rates for the next financial year.
The National Living wage will inflate by 9.8 per cent to £11.44. The Low Pay Commission also recommended the eligibility for the National Living Wage be reduced from 23 to 21.
The 18-20 National Minimum Wage will increase by 14.8 per cent to £8.60.
The under 18 National Minimum Wage and Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage will both increase by 21.2 per cent to £6.40.
John Stevenson MP said: “The new rates which come into effect next April, will mean that a full time worker in Carlisle on the National Living Wage will see their gross annual pay increase by around £1,900."
