PLANS for a proposed farm track on land near Carlisle have been allowed.

Planning officers at Cumberland Council have ruled that prior approval was not required for the site at Moss Side Farm in Crosby on Eden.

The proposed track will measure 300m by three metres and be 0.1m deep - it will be made from stone hardcore and be dark grey in colour.

The entire site covers an area of 21.8 hectares and has been used for agriculture for just over 100 years.

The application form states: "The track is needed to navigate the field in all weather conditions all year round, with a firm base that can be used for vehicles and livestock alike to aid animal welfare.

"The design is suitable for moving livestock, and farm vehicles without poaching the ground."
