A SHOPLIFTER was arrested in Whitehaven this week.
The woman was seen stealing items from the Tesco store in the town.
Following a chase on foot from officers the offender was apprehended and arrested.
The incident took place on Wednesday, November 22.
A spokesperson said: "All that running PC Stubbings does on her rest days paid off this afternoon after reports of a Shoplifter in Tesco Whitehaven.
"The female was spotted, chased, and arrested at 1.50pm before being charged in custody by 2.50pm. Unfortunately, the paperwork isn't as quick to complete as the foot chase."
Cumbria Police work actively in communities like Whitehaven and the rest of West Cumbria to prevent offenders from committing criminal acts.
