A NEW banking hub will open in Maryport this week, bringing five banks in one to the town.

Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash, has confirmed today that the new banking hub in Maryport will open at 11am on Friday, November 24.

Maryport’s Banking Hub is located at 115/117 Senhouse Street, a former NatWest branch, and will be officially opened by Mark Jenkinson, MP for Workington.

The Hub, when it opens, will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions.

It will also offer a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own banking provider about more complicated issues, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week:

Monday: NatWest
Tuesday: HSBC
Wednesday: Halifax
Thursday: TSB
Friday: Barclays
