THE week before half term, students at Trinity School, Carlisle, put on a production of 'Mary Poppins Jr', much to the delight of audiences.
They entertained with a nonstop all-singing, all dancing evening of fun with audiences enjoying the familiar songs from the classic film starring Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and Gerald Thomlinson.
Students have been working hard for months in order to bring this well-loved show to delighted audiences.
Trinity School’s head of arts faculty, Alison Richardson, said that she was ‘very proud’ of her students.
“We are pleased to be able to put on a production again after the impact Covid had on the performing arts in the school,” said Alison.
“It was brilliant to see so many students getting involved both on the stage and behind the scenes.
“The students gain so much from being part of a production and we are very proud of them.”
The cast ably lead by Jessica Gardiner (Mary) and Jon Brett-Young (Bert) put on a production that included a little bit of magic, with letters disappearing up chimneys and kites flying on stage.
All the technical aspects were led by students with the production team organising props and costumes alongside managing the lights and sound for the show.
Dance numbers such as Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Step in Time were choreographed by sixth form students Joshua Jackson and Anya Story, who taught their dances to students during rehearsals.
