MAKING HISTORY SINCE 1860

Redmayne, a quaint tailors located in Wigton, a small Cumbrian town, recently contributed to Nelson Thomlinson’s annual prize day ceremony.

Redmayne Tailors, founded in 1860, are a bespoke company made to customise clothing which is specialised to each individual customer, offering a quality service. Situated in the centre of town, the company’s customer base is broader than just the local community. For instance, past clientele has consisted of the Prince of Wales as well as executives of international businesses such as the tech company: Apple.

Each year, Nelson Thomlinson school holds a week dedicated to congratulating the hard work and efforts of its pupils and with each year, a guest speaker is welcomed to inspire students. The ceremony consists of musical performances from pupils as well as speeches given by teachers and members of the local community.

This years guest speaker was Claire Mahon, a confident woman who is key to the management of Redmayne tailors. After studying at university, Mahon found her place within the tailors after settling down with Tom Mahon who is also a part of the Redmayne team. During her fascinating speech, Claire told the story of how she studied fashion at university which brought her to where she is today. Her speech then dived into the importance of remaining humble and modest despite where life may take you and how much money you may earn. Her speech was deeply inspired by one of Apple’s top executives who never fails to remember where he once came from regardless of the fact that he is a part of the world’s largest company.
