A CAFE in Brampton is 'delighted' to have scooped up the Best Cafe in the Cumbrian final of England's Business Awards.

The recognition for Lanercost Tea Rooms and Gift Shop comes only two years after it first opened its doors.

Owner Stefano Calcioli said: "It's recognition of all the hard work from building the business up from nothing. We've put a lot of hard work and effort in.

"It's nice to be appreciated not only by our customers but by this award.

"It underlines the hard work we are putting in," he said.

Despite its relatively short time in operation, Lanercost Tea Rooms and Gift Shop has continuously grown and expanded its offerings.

The cafe now boasts a boutique gift shop, serves evening meals with an Italian-inspired menu, and has even ventured into roasting its own coffee beans.

"A lot has happened within the past two years, the business has gone from strength to strength really," Stefano said.

Lanercost Tea Rooms and Gift Shop's success story is marked by resilience as well.

Earlier this year, the cafe faced the challenges of temporarily closing due to a fire, but it has since reopened and returned stronger than ever.

Stefano took the opportunity to thank all of his dedicated staff for their contributions to the cafe's success.

The cafe is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 4pm and, for the restaurant, from 5.30pm to 9pm on Wednesdays through Saturday.
