"Safeguarding Season" returns to Carlisle Cathedral this month, to “lament, listen and learn” from the survivors of abuse.

The three-week Season has been organised by Carlisle Cathedral, working in partnership with Survivor’s Voices, Churches Together in Cumbria, LOUDfence and The Diocese of Carlisle.

The Season will begin on Sunday, October 15 – nationally designated as Safeguarding Sunday – and will run until Friday, November 3, All Survivors’ Day.

The Very Revd Jonathan Brewster, Dean of Carlisle, said “We look forward to hosting our third Safeguarding Season at Carlisle Cathedral which will include a visual representation of our support to those affected by abuse through the LOUDfence installation.

“During the Season there will be an opportunity for reflection through services and prayer and the Cathedral will provide a safe space for conversation.

We continue to pledge our unwavering commitment to Safeguarding and will work together with our partner organisations to ensure this is consistent throughout the Diocese.”

The season will begin with a Safeguarding Sunday service in the Cathedral, on 15 October 15 at 10.30am, which will include a recommitment to the safeguarding pledge.
