A paint shop in Carlisle has donned pink colours for the whole of October to support breast cancer awareness month.

Paintwell shops across the country have decorated their interiors with pink balloons and have been selling pink t-shirts to raise money for the charity Breast Cancer Now.

Generous locals have already purchased around 30 t-shirts from Paintwell Carlisle, with all the money raised helping to fund life-changing breast cancer research and support.

Branch manager Lesley Kelly has gone the extra mile, by painting the exterior of the shop pink and dying her hair the same colour.

She said: "We're doing it right across the board throughout the company. It was started at our head office in the Wirral and we've all been asked if we will participate. But I decided to go one step further and paint the outside of my shop pink.

"We've got several customers that have had issues with breast cancer. There has been a lot of cancer within my family, not necessarily breast cancer, but it's just a cause that I've always felt should be looked after and I'm glad there is a full month dedicated to it."

Lesley suggests that Paintwell is always keen to work with charities, and has donated regularly to Macmillan Cancer Support in the past after events such as bake sales.

Breast Cancer Now is encouraging people to wear pink on Friday, October 20, and Lesley has already told her staff that they should turn up 'head to toe' in pink.
