A LOCAL charity is appealing for new trustees amid uncertain future.
Brampton Preservation Trust, which was formed over 40 years ago, faces uncertainty as current Trustees prepare to retire.
In a public meeting at Brampton's Old Church on Saturday 21st October, the Trust plans to welcome those who are interested in learning more about how it supports the local town and what they can do to support the Trust
Bob Allan, from the Brampton Preservation Trust, said: "The current Trustees now intend to step back and allow others to carry on the work.
"If insufficient people come forward, the Trust will need to dispose of its assets and wind up the company."
The Trust was formed as a limited company and registered charity in 1981 to protect the town’s character and save buildings that were threatened with demolition.
The Trust succeeded in rescuing several buildings by acquiring, renovating, and reselling them in the 80s.
In 1988, it acquired the redundant Brampton Old Church from the Church of England, oversaw its restoration, and has since sought to maintain it and facilitate public access.
