MORE zany adventures are set to return to Carlisle's West Walls Theatre this Friday (September, 22).

Space Radio's new cast will be tackling a host of fun new characters, from self-conscious superheroes to silly robot submariners who will perform a unique adaptation of Jules Verne's science fiction masterpiece, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Director Eden McIntyre said: " There have been many versions, including the big-budget Disney feature from the 1950s, but adapting it for stage—and as a radio play—is a little more uncommon, so I’ve had fun with that.

"This time, I’ve added more sci-fi elements because nuclear-powered submarines are more science-fact than science-fiction these days, in comparison to the novel’s original Victorian publication.

"And, of course, there are now robots in it, because you can’t do a modern sci-fi without deadly A.I. coming to take the heroes’ jobs.

"Expect egregious accents and high school French as we play around with this classic voyage," he said.

Friday's Space Radio offers other exciting adaptations, including the reimagined adventures of pulp sci-fi hero Flash Gordon, featuring fan-favourite characters such as Prince Vultan, Ming the Merciless, and Dr. Zarkov.

Tickets are pay-as-you-feel, with a suggested donation price of £5 and can be purchased online or on the door.

Doors are from 7pm with the show beginning at 7.30pm.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in costumes for the chance to win an exciting prize while enjoying drinks at the theatre's bar.
