Dragonfly Drama Group, composed of adults with learning disabilities, is returning to the stage with Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream.

The performance will take place at Morton Manor Community Centre, Carlisle, on September 14 at 1pm.

Cllr Martin Harris, Cumberland Council’s Executive Member for Adults and Community Health, said: “The Dragonfly drama group’s Midsummer Night’s Dream promises to be a fantastic performance with their own take on the classic and it is great for them to be perform in public again after the ongoing difficulties of the pandemic.

“The group offers a great creative outlet that helps people to build confidence, life skills and build lifelong friendships. The public performances also help to build vital community connections.”

Dragonfly Drama Group have been working tirelessly.

Sue Rudd, a supervisor at Carlisle Day Services who supports the group, said: “The group have chosen to tackle one of Shakespeare’s iconic plays this year, with a Dragonfly twist, and everyone has worked hard to learn their lines and lyrics as well as create backdrops, props and costumes.”

Cast member Aaron said: “We are all so excited to get back on the stage again after having to move online for our performance last year, due to the pandemic.”
