A PENRITH art gallery is 'delighted' to host its first exhibition since the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns.

Melkinthorpe's Red Barn Gallery was founded in 2005 by Peter Stott and prides itself on being a haven for art enthusiasts and promoting emerging artists.

They said: "At Red Barn Gallery, we believe that art should know no boundaries. Peter, has always had a unique perspective on art.

News and Star:

"He delights in showcasing work from both emerging artists and renowned talents alike, creating an unreservedly eclectic collection that defies convention and embraces artistic diversity.

"We take immense pride in discovering hidden gems and giving them the opportunity to shine alongside established names in the art world."

This first exhibition since the Covid-19 pandemic showcases the work of George Donald, who joins a long list of creatives, such as Michelle Freemantle, and Martin McWilliam, who have had their work celebrated at the gallery.

News and Star:

Donald was born in South India into a colonial family in 1943 and has journeyed through the arts as a painter, printmaker, and lecturer.

The work showcased in this exhibition reflects George's calm and contemplative paintings of figures and landscapes which 'combine colour, texture, and pattern to delight, provoke thought or elicit meaning'.
