AN ICONIC hip-hop group will no longer be making their anticipated appearance at Solfest 2023, it has been announced.
De La Soul, one of the pioneers of hip-hop music known for tracks such as 'Me, Myself and I' and 'Eye Know', will no longer be able to attend the upcoming festival as a result of logistical challenges faced by key musicians due to their international status.
The festival will take place from August 24 to 29 at the North Lakes Country Park in Silloth.
The group is set to make an appearance for Solfest 2024.
In a post on social media, Solfest organisers said: "Due to the international status of themselves and their band, a couple of important key musicians are now unable to perform on the day for logistical reasons.
"All parties involved tried hard to find a solution, but with the short notice, have come to the mutual agreement that the full De La Soul Headline Show with a 10 peice live band is what we want to bring to Solfest.
"With that in mind - De La Soul + their band are now confirmed as the Saturday Headliner for Solfest 2024 - Solfest's 20th Anniversary show.
"We know many of you will be disappointed with this, we are looking at a solution for this year and will get back to you with a replacement, booking," they said.
Plenty of big-name acts however are still set to entertain audiences.
Among the performers headlining are artists like The Libertines, Ocean Colour Scene, Wilkinson and The Undertones.
Drum and bass royalty have also been announced as a headliner for the Tarns Dub stage, with SIGMA and Goldie galvanising crowds over the weekend.
Some day and weekend camping tickets are still available from https://solfest.co.uk/tickets/
