Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border, visited Roxane Eden Valley, a Cumbrian mineral bottle plant producing the Aqua Pura brand..

Based in Armathwaite, the team have been bottling water at source for more than 30 years.

Filtered through the Eden Valley’s mineral-rich rocks, Aqua Pura is one of the UK’s fastest-growing brands with "sustainability" at its core.

Aqua Pura 500ml bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic and its shrinkwrap is made from 50% recycled plastic.

They have also implemented new environmentally friendly caps which stay with the bottle so cannot be easily lost to nature.

Dr Hudson – who authored a report onto the UK’s plastic waste alongside Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee colleagues - was "proud to champion a local business at the forefront of sustainability.

Dr Hudson was given a tour of the production facility to see the ongoing investment in the site and an exclusive look at their brand-new automated warehouse.

Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border, said: “With global temperatures rising, businesses must champion sustainability and the Roxane team are a shining example of how to do this; delivering on consumer priorities and boosting the local economy.
