A Cumbrian golf club is set to host an event in aid of Prostate Cancer UK next month, after raising nearly £10,000 for the charity in recent years.

Alston Moor golf club, which claims to be the highest of its kind in England, will work with Play2Support, a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Ovingham, to host a golf tournament on Friday, September 1.

Entry costs £20 and is open to male, female, or mixed pairs of any age & any handicap, with prizes, a raffle, and a buffet all available.

Alston Moor and Play2Support are hoping to repeat the success of last year when they raised £3500 for the charity, bringing the total raised together to over £9000.

News and Star:

Back in 2010, Paul Nash, who is one of the founders of Play2Support, was diagnosed with and treated for prostate cancer.

He was described as one of the ‘lucky ones’, as the disease was caught early and removed using laparoscopic surgery. Since then he has supported Prostate Cancer UK through awareness and fundraising activities.

Alston Moor offers a challenging 18 holes of golf, over its 10 greens and 18 tee positions.

The club is situated two miles south of Alston in 132 acres of parkland, high meadow, and pasture land. Just 15 miles south of Hadrian's Wall, the course offers spectacular views of the North Pennines.
