A Cockermouth auction house's largest ever sale of vintage and antique toys, trains and die-cast models takes place soon, with approximately 700 quality lots up for auction.

Following the success of their specialist model railways sale earlier in the year, Mitchell's sale features four private collections of model railways, locomotives and railwayana.

The most valuable lots to be auctioned are likely to be 0 gauge locomotives of which there are several with estimates ranging from £200 to £600. The highest estimated lots are a gas powered Caradoc steam locomotive with remote control in working order which is expected to sell for£400 to £600 and a brass construction five locomotive painted black with its original box which should also make £400 to £600.

Another 0 gauge boxed brass unpainted 2-6-0 crab locomotive has an estimate of £200 to £300.

Other valuable locomotives include a Bing gauge 1 live steam 0-4-0 locomotive circa 1902 with LNWR tender circa 1906 with an estimate of £300 to £500 and a Rapido 00 gauge boxed steam locomotive, GNR, Sterling single No.1 which could make £200 to £300.

Unusual lots to be sold include a rare 18th century country craft carved wood carnival head or scarecrow with an estimate of £100-£200 and a Gabrielle Design 1980’s Paddington Bear in a rugby outfit which could make £80-£120.

Other notable items include five Britain's farm models, tractor 00225, tractor.43091A1, tractor 40511, Disc Arrow 9590 & Buck Rake and slurry scraper 42890 with an estimate of £50-£80.

A late 1950's Monte Carlo Triang pedal car requiring restoration with an operational mechanism and detached steering wheel and a Dinky Slumberland guy van, No 514 with red hubs and smooth tyres should both make £40-£60.
