A COMEDIAN whose tale of gigging in Carlisle went viral is set to return to the Sands Centre for a night of laughs.

TikTok funnyman Paul Smith will be returning with his brand-new tour, Joker, on November 16.

Carlisle certainly left an impression on the comic as he described a memorable story on Tankd Up podcast about an outing at the Sands Centre from back in 2021.

Funnyman Smith recounted the moment in which a heckler was approached by security to keep the noise down to let the show continue uninterrupted... when she reacted with physical violence and 'headbutted' one of the security guards.

At this point, Paul said the entire Carlisle crowd jeered 'Out!' as security ushered the woman out of the venue.

Amusingly however, the comedian said her husband was one of the jeering people in the crowd who remained for the rest of the show.

The TikTok has since had many commenters and gig-goers who attended the night who have poked fun at both the city and the night itself.

At the time, a spokesperson for GLL said: "Our venues are for everyone to enjoy and we do not condone violent or disruptive behaviour in line with our policy and procedures.

"We are aware of the incident that happened back in November 2021 and at the time advised the third party security contractor (Elda Security Solutions Ltd.) that they could contact the police if they wanted to make a formal complaint. No arrest was made.

"Paul Smith’s most recent visit in January 2023 was a huge success and enjoyed by all that attended," they said.

The Scouse comedian will also be playing in Kendal's Westmorland Hall on October 28.
