A LARGE trailer fire caused a Plumpton road to be shut for some time yesterday, as locals and fire crews worked for three hours to re-open the stretch of highway.
Crews from Penrith and Lazonby fire stations were called to the road in Plumpton at 7.26pm yesterday evening, May 13 after a large amount of straw bails were on fire.
A spokesman for Lazonby fire station said: "Reports of a large trailer fire. Upon arrival crews were faced with a large amount of straw bails on fire, along with Fire Penrith and the water bowser the incident, swift action from the vehicle owner helped remove the tractor and trailer.
"From the hazard area, crews worked with locals to get the road open, In attendance for 3 hours."
