PLANS have been submitted for the development of eight houses near Penrith.

The application site is located within the village of Tirril, next to Sockbridge.

The plan states that the market houses will be four-bedroomed plus.

It was submitted to Westmorland & Furness Council on April 11, by agent Summit Town Planning.

The proposal would deliver 8 new homes in the village which has a stock of approximately 200.

The site has had a number of previous planning refusals, in which many were refused for the proposals 'not reflecting or enhancing the local landscape character'.

The design and access statement states: "Every care has been taken to meet with the overall aspirations of the Eden Local Plan to meet local housing needs, increase design quality throughout the District, design higher environmental performance into the fabric of the buildings and respond positively to the local context of the site.

"It is considered that overall, the proposal is in broad accordance with the Local Plan and national guidance and should be supported.

"Where any conflict is considered to occur, this is considered to be outweighed by the positive contributions the proposal would make to the area through the delivery of new housing," it reads.
