A CARLISLE family, with five generations of military service, are 'honoured' and 'delighted' as two brothers from the city will today walk in the parade marking the Kings Coronation.

Sgt (SI) Tait RAPTC and Pte Tait Royal Army Medical Corps, both from Carlisle, will be representing their respective Corps on parade at the Coronation.

The family were delighted when eldest son Jason was chosen to walk in the King Charles III Coronation parade representing his corp on such a historic occasion, their delight was then only enhanced when they received a call to say that youngest son Peter had also been chosen to participate in the parade.

Peter and Jason's mum Tracey Tait spoke of her pride at having her sons involved in the prestigious global event.

She said: "When our eldest son, Sgt Jason Tait called to inform us that he would be participating in King Charles III Coronation Parade, we were utterly delighted.

"From a family with five generations of military service, we understand what a huge honour it is represent your corps/regiment on such a historic occasion.

"As parents, we were so proud that he would be representing our family at the parade, and took a number of opportunities to tell our wider family and friends.

"You could then imagine our delight and amazement when our youngest son, Pte Christian Tait also called to say that he had been selected to participate in the parade.

"Unfortunately, our nearest and dearest then had to listen once again, as we detailed our family’s further good fortune.

"We know how hard the Service men and women are working to make this historic parade the international success we know it will be.

"We are humbled and honoured that our two sons will play their part in this incredible day; an unforgettable experience for them to share as brothers and a memory for all our family to treasure".

The parade is set to see around 7,000 members of the armed forces parade through London to welcome the new King, and is set to be Britain’s largest ceremonial military procession in over 70 years.
