A BAN has been handed to a motorist who has admitted driving while over the limit for a cocaine breakdown product.
Matthew Newton, 26, committed the offence as he drove a Volkswagen Touareg on Old Brampton Road, Carlisle, on January 21, the city’s Rickergate court heard.
At the time, he had 315mcg of benzoylecgonine in every litre of blood, more than six times the legal limit.
After hearing the details, magistrates imposed 14 months ban and a fine of £461, along with £85 prosecution costs. The defendant, of Cumwhinton Road, Carlisle, was legally represented during the hearing.
