A NEW play showcasing the dynamics of a modern family is set to come to Carlisle's Green Room Theatre.

Things I Know To Be True by Andrew Bovell, directed by Jessie Southwell, will come to the West Walls between May 15 - May 20.

The story follows Bob and Fran Price, who have worked hard to give their four children the opportunities they never had.

Now the grown-up children, Pip, Mark, Ben and Rosie, share their thoughts and feelings with the audience as they struggle to define themselves beyond their parents' expectations.

The play is said to be moving, funny and complex - just like a real family.

Simply staged, it relies on the fine acting of an excellent cast and the expertise of the technical team to create mood and meaning.

Director Jessie Southwell is a well-known and respected figure in drama and performing arts.

"I have taught drama for more than twenty years and it has been gratifying and exciting to see students develop transferable skills such as confidence, communication and teamwork.

"Although I enjoy acting, I prefer directing, and it has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with the talented cast of Things I Know To Be True.

"They have made my job very easy.

"Drama not only entertains, but it can also make people think - and this play does both.

"Not only that, but it is a play that GCSE and A level Drama students are very familiar with, as they have the opportunity to see an acclaimed production of this digitally as part of their studies.

"I hope our production lives up to their expectations," she said.

Performances will start from 7.30pm with tickets costing £10 (£9 for members) and are available from www.carlislegreenroom.uk/tickets/ and also from the Tourist Information Centre, Old Town Hall, Carlisle
