A POPULAR Carlisle pub has had a spruce up, with new decor and carpets as well as televisions and sound systems.

The Caledonian, located on Botchergate, unveiled the new look at the weekend.

The pub has been a firm favourite of people in the city and visitors to Carlisle for a good number of years and is a popular feature of Carlisle's nightlife and day-drinking scene.

Situated on the same street as other much-loved drinking establishments, the pub still manages to flourish with flocks of adults of all ages coming along week in and week out to enjoy a drink or two.

The pub is currently owned by Thomas and Deborah Pearson. Mr Pearson said: "The Caledonian is a very good sports pub, we're getting the refurbishment done this week and it will open back up on Friday, April 28, at 5pm.

"We've got new televisions, new sound systems, and new decor and carpets. We're hoping that it should help to bring even more people into the pub.

"I'd definitely say that we're a very popular pub in Carlisle, we're a very busy pub, and match days, in particular, bring lots of customers to the pub.
