Carlisle has been named as the second most affordable city for renters in a new study by property development loan providers Buzz Capital.
To identify the most affordable city to rent, researchers calculated the disparity between rent cost and average salary for 48 cities across England.
Recently, Zoopla released its quarterly report. The property portal predicts that rental prices will continue to rise in cities across the country, amid a shortage of available properties and an influx of renters.
Carlisle was found to have the second smallest disparity between the cost of rent and average annual salary.
On average, employees in Carlisle receive £31,500 per year from work. Rent, which averages at £6,060 per year, equates to 19.2 per cent of the average annual salary.
Adam Betteridge on behalf of Buzz Capital, said: "If you’re interested in a property, try to make an application immediately after viewing it or the following morning.
"If you’re currently employed, gather four months of payslips. You will also need bank statements from your current account."
