GARY McKee, Cumbria’s 'marathon man', has set his sights on a new challenege as he prepares to head to America to undertake the Grand to Grand Ultra.
After completing his last gruelling challenge of running a marathon every day for a year in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice At Home West Cumbria, Gary has announced his next feat will be the 171-mile foot race in the US.
The Grand to Grand Ultra is a foot race which begins at one of the seven wonders of the world - the Grand Canyon - on September 24.
The race finishes at the summit of the Grand Staircase, on September 30.
The course covers around 171 miles spread over six stages in seven days. Runners will endure a mix of desert and difficult terrains including sand, rocks, roads and canyons. There are also warnings of venomous snake and spider encounters.
Gary will again be raising money along the way as he prepares for the mammoth undertaking.
