GET on your dancing shoes because there are a lot of great indie gigs coming to Carlisle over the coming months.

From blockbuster names like Travis to the slightly more niche like Arab Strap, there certainly is something for everyone that likes good music, wailing guitars, and ear worming tracks.

Travis -  Sands Centre -  July 28

Multi-platinum and BRIT award-winning band Travis will be playing their first-ever Carlisle show.

Travis's set list is sure to include songs from all nine of their albums.

Most recently, the band has toured the classic albums 'The Man Who' and 'The Invisible Band' which achieved nine times and four times platinum status in the U.K.

Arab Strap - Brickyard - July 8

The seminal Scottish indie duo will play at Carlisle's Brickyard as part of the 25th-anniversary tour of their second studio album, Philophobia.

Philophobia includes fan-favourites from Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton's melancholic repertoire including New Birds, Here We Go and Packs of Three.

Much like any Arab Strap gig, the night will be an ode to love, night-outs went by, getting older, regret, and introspection.

Fun Lovin' Criminals - Brickyard - May 19

International hitters will be bringing an infectious blend of cinematic hip-hop, rock ‘n’ roll, blues-jazz , latin-soul.

The group first burst onto the New York music scene in 1996 with the release of the worldwide multi-platinum debut album ‘Come Find Yourself’ on EMI Records.

Their debut single ‘Scooby Snacks’, famed for sampling Tarantino movies such as Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, spent 17 weeks on the Billboard chart, quickly achieving gold status in the US.

The Bluetones (acoustic) - Old Fire Station - April 15

A stripped-back Bluetones show sees singer Mark Morriss accompanied by guitarist Adam Devlin for a 90 minute run-through of Bluetones classics such as ‘Slight Return’ and ‘Marblehead Johnson’.

Badly Drawn Boy - Brickyard - September 7

Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy has announced a series of intimate gigs with Carlisle's Brickyard on the list.

“I’ll be playing songs from across my career, including favourites and some rarities and deep cuts. I’d like to think this is the tour I’d want to see if I was a long-time fan. Very much looking forward to it and hope to see you there.” – Damon Gough.

Bez in conversation - Old Fire Station - April 13

Okay, not so much a gig but well worth a visit as Bez is set to talk about his extraordinary life and career.

Bez will be joined on stage for an interview with Paul Musgrave, followed by an audience Question & Answer session.

The Libertines - Solfest - August 24 - 29

Not quite in Carlisle but well worth a mention when talking about all things indie music, The Libertines will be headlining the upcoming Solfest.

Led by Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, known for hits like ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’, ‘Don’t Look Back into the Sun’, and ‘What Became of the Likely Lads' - the group will be sharing the stage over the weekend with the likes of The Undertones as well.
