ONE of the first planning applications to be registered with the new Cumberland Council is that of an outline proposal for five homes near Brampton.

The proposal seeking outline planning permission is for a residential development project on land at High Stand, How Mill.

An application for an outline planning proposal is generally used to find out whether or not a proposal is likely to be approved by the planning authority.

Currently, the site is comprised of a fire-damaged bungalow and what appears to be recognised as an old haulage yard.

The design and access statement reads: "The intention is to clear the existing structures and re-develop this brownfield site for residential purposes.

"Although seeking outline permission, the application is accompanied by proposed layout plans that show the erection of five detached dwellings.

"As part of the proposal, the foul drainage will be connected via gravity into the existing combined sewer.

"The preferred method of surface water disposal is via a suitably sized soakaway for each proposed dwelling."

The application has been put forward by Harraby Green Associates to Cumberland Council, registered on April 3.

The public can view and comment on all applications submitted to Cumberland Council.

Councillors will take comments of support or objection into account when giving their verdict.
