Local football clubs will soon benefit from the first phase of improvements to take place at Moorclose sports pitches in Workington once some new fencing and ground works have been undertaken.
Work is due to start next week on the pitches close to the site of the old leisure centre. The new fencing is being erected to help prevent dog fouling and litter, including broken glass, being left on the pitches and provide an area for safe storage of equipment for the clubs.
The improvements are being carried out by Allerdale Borough Council, following on from conversations with the local football clubs and is being paid for through the Sellafield Social Impact funding.

For their own safety, local residents are being asked to stay away from the immediate area where the work is being carried out. Access to the wider area will be maintained for those who use it for walking their dogs or recreation.
